KFC flaming hot is such a disappointment. There is absolutely no taste.  Best to stick to spicy flavour or bring back the tom yam flavour. So for now no KFC in the meantime for me. 

Luckily the local flavours for fried chicken like Famous Nasi Lemak in Bangsar is always good.

Touch n go

Tounch n go lanes should not be shared with tunai lanes. Defeats the purpose of touch n go which is meant to be faster than paying cash. If someone in front pays cash, it would increase the waiting time for the touch n go drivers.

Will Firefly now please fly KL-Kuching sector

When Firefly first introduced its flights to Kuching, we were happy to have an alternative way to get home from KL.  Not that the tickets were very cheap, but it offered a competitive alternative to Airasia.  The fares are cheaper than MAS and we get to avoid LCCT and forget a moment how much worse off we all seem to be compared to the old days. hThen it was taken off amidst talks of MAS/Airasia merger or takeover.  In any case it instantly created a non competitive environment and immediately flights from KL to Kuching on Firefly were removed. At the same time, the prices of Airasia for that sector went higher.

Certainly, in the old days, there was senior citizen fares where the tickets were half fares for a full serviced flights on MAS if bookings were made one week ahead. In recent times, the equivalent half fares are not easy to obtain even for zero service airlines like Airasia even if booked one week ahead.  MAS has gone on to increase its fares exhorbitantly, Airasia also increased its fares. It's clearly a case of no competition for zero service airlines like Airasia while fares are not cheaper especially so during seasonal family reunions for festive celebrations. What is most annoying is to see cheap fare promotions for flights to other foreign destinations.

With the merger or takeover no longer in place, hopefully Firefly will continue to fly KL- Kuching sector.  Firstly it is the duty of Firefly to ensure that Malaysians can return home first, before giving cheap fares to the Indonesians or other nationalities to fly home.  It becomes absurd when during festive seasons, non-Malaysians can return home cheaply but not Malaysians using Malaysian airlines. Since MAS is losing billions, why don't they let the Malaysians benefit the service. If MAS wants any form of sympathy for making billions of losses, focus on corporate social responsibility. Take care of Malaysians first.

I have always felt Airasia is Malaysian but seeing how this particular situation is handled, it is hard to feel any sense of loyalty towards Airasia. How could they forget that East Malaysia forms part of Malaysia too?

Astro going spooky

It's annoying how Astro is going crazy with its trailer ads for horror movies. It's been going on for a few months now. It seems to appear on various channels throughout the day. I know it appears on Bloomberg late at night and early in the morning. Not everyone awake at that hour loves horror movies or can tolerate it. I think it is very insensitive for Astro to simply air horror trailers. Astro is aired in homes and in bedrooms where there are possibly faint-hearted audience not to mention children. I certainly don't want children to be exposed to such horrible sounds and visuals. I don't want to be exposed to such horrible sounds and visuals. While watching one news session, the horror ads can appear several times. I really hope Astro will stop airing these horror ads. Or I might just stay on IPTV channels instead.

MAS, Firefly, Airasia and CSR

One of the most annoying things about school holidays and festive seasons is that airfares are costly.

If there is a need for airlines to do corporate social responsibility ('CSR') it really should begin with school holidays and festive seasons. The best time for family gatherings is during school holidays and festive seasons. School children particularly look forward to spending time with outstation extended family members such as grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It is the best time to balik kampung and to visit the family. In fact, when special fare promotions are announced, there is even a note in fine print that the special fares would not be applicable during school holidays or public holidays! It seems unconscionable for airlines to seek a bigger profit during such times.

It would be great if Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Airasia, being Malaysian, could adopt a CSR approach with regards to such holidays. Follow the footsteps of Telekom Malaysia, where calls made during festive seasons are at a lower call charges, appreciating the sensitivity that calls are particularly meaningful for people who are away during such times. Balik kampung during such times are also particularly meaningful. And this airfare insensitivity particularly hurts people who have to travel between east and west Malaysia with no other means to balik kampung.

During festive seasons, the government monitors prices of food. Could there be a monitoring of airfares too?
